Sika acquires MRT and establishes strong presence in Concrete Admixtures across Canada

Sika Canada, based in Pointe Claire, Quebec and MRT Construction Products, based in Edmonton, Alberta, are pleased to announce the acquisition of MRT Concrete Admixtures effective March 1, 2007.

With the acquisition of MRT, Sika significantly expands its Concrete Admixture business in Canada.  As one of the largest Concrete Admixture suppliers in the world, this acquisition will enable Sika to effectively and efficiently serve its Canadian and global customers with leading edge concrete admixture products across Canada and North America.

The current management team of MRT, Rob Meltzer and Allan Robinson, will join Bob Barham and the Concrete Business Unit team at Sika and ensure continued growth of the combined Sika - MRT concrete admixture business in Western Canada.  Customers will continue to enjoy the outstanding service and products that MRT has provided to the concrete admixture market for the past 12 years.

Separately, Sika Canada and Fritz-Pak Corporation of Dallas, Texas, are pleased to announce that they have entered into a Distribution and Sales Agreement whereby, effective March 1, 2007, Sika Canada will be the exclusive distributor of the Fritz-Pak range of powdered admixtures throughout Canada.
